Kevin Doyle for Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovakia on Tuesday evening.

Long emerged off the bench in Friday's 3-2 home defeat to Russia, although he did find the back of the net in the narrow loss.Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni is without Doyle with a knee injury against Slovakia, meaning the likes of Doyle and fellow striker Andy Keogh come into contention. The Reading striker has only started one competitive game for his country and would dearly love to add to that tally and get Ireland's qualifying campaign back on track."If I get the nod, I'll be ready. It's nice coming off the bench when the other team's a little bit tired but I feel like I've been playing well for my club and it's nice to show what you're about."With the players we have in the squad, when you do get the chance you've got to take it. That adds to your own game a bit when you know it's now or never, you go out and give it your all and hopefully it's enough.Big boots "They're big boots to fill so there's going to be extra pressure on whoever comes in up front but I'm looking forward to the challenge. It's a big game and if we can get three points it would turn the table right round." Long is happy with his form for club and country and is hoping to score a goal or two against Slovakia should Trapattoni give him the nod on Tuesday night. "It's nice to get a run for your country and show what you're about. Hopefully I can kick-on on Tuesday night and get one or two more."
