According to a report on uefa.com, over 30,000 people were present at the opening ceremony for the renovated Municipal Stadium Poznan – the first of four Polish venues for UEFA EURO 2012 to be completed.

The highlight of Monday's ceremony was a concert by British rock star Sting backed by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Other performers included Polish band Indios Bravos and singer Anna Maria Jopek.

With more than 43,000 seats, the Municipal Stadium Poznan fulfils all UEFA requirements and boasts two huge TV screens, among the biggest in Poland, and a state-of-the-art sound system.

The stadium will be official opened on September 30, 2010, when Europa League hopefuls Lech Poznan lock horns with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The Municipal Stadium will also be the home venue of Warta Poznan.
